Well, I just read something that I really already knew in my heart. I read that just 15 minutes per day of fitness activities can extend the years on your life by three years. I know, because in my heart of hearts, I know absolutely that fitness is a pivotal part of my continued health and wellness.

I can tell after a workout at the gym at work when I’m having a stressful day that I’ve just done something that is immeasurably good for my health when the tightness in my chest, the worries in my head, and the overall feeling of misery is totally lifted after an hour at the gym.

A recent fad that has been circulating through Hollywood for a while, and is starting to make its way to the mainstream is drinking coconut water for better hydration as a sort of more natural alternative to sugary, chemical-laden sports drinks.

Sports drinks like Gatorade purport to hydrate you better than water because of their high electrolyte content. Electrolytes are merely minerals, and they fuel our body with hydration better than ordinary water can because they help balance the hydration better in our bodies more quickly.

There are people who love yoga for either part or all of their exercise routine.  And then, there are some people who will do any other form of exercise yet avoid yoga.  Often, the reason for this is that they have difficulty mastering yoga because of balance or flexibility deficiencies.

While traditional yoga has been around for ages, aerial yoga is a new style and form of doing yoga.  In aerial yoga, instead of doing poses on a mat, you do the poses with the help of a long soft fabric loop that is suspended from the ceiling.  Aerial yoga can convert certain people to yoga lovers because of the trapeze to help support your pose.

When it comes to playing sports, I’m the first to admit, I pretty much suck at anything that requires a whole of of hand eye coordination.  If you take me to play tennis, you’d probably be winning even if you’re just a mediocre player.

I can run allover the court all day, but when it comes to making contact with any ball in any sport, I’m pretty terrible. But that’s not what playing sports is really all about. It’s not about winning and competition all the time, but to me, even trying to play sports is fun and it also has a lot of benefits for my fitness.

I just got done with a very hot and sweaty day of mowing the lawn, weeding, and doing all that other fun summer stuff that sometimes feels like a bit of a stress reliever, and when you’re not in the mood, feels like a major ball and chain.

Sometimes it can be the bain of home ownership, which is otherwise pretty freakin awesome if you ask me. But if I’m not in the mood to sweat it out, watch out because I tend to pout about it.

There are many different levels of commitment to reach potential fitness goals.  You can buy or rent DVD’s and do a 30 minute or more workout at home whenever you can find the spare time.  Other people may join a gym or health club and sign up for various fitness classes.

For the really motivated individuals, there are exercise classes called boot-camp workout sessions.  Depending on your motivation and personal fitness goals, this venue for exercise may be for you.  Some people find this is the best route to become toned and strong if they have an upcoming event in a few months, such as a reunion or wedding.

Well, it’s official. My husband and I are much more tolerable people to be around when we work out after we get home from work, rather than laying like slugs in front of the television or our computers til it’s bed time.

It’s tempting to do this when you’re beat from a day at work. The stress and anxiety of the work day can really get you down and sap all of your energy. Many days I don’t get to the gym on my lunch or I get very little exercise during my work day otherwise.

If you are primarily focused on exercise as a way to burn calories, then there are some things you should know about which activities can give you the most bang for your buck. What does that mean in this day and age?
