Today, we are all trying to live a little healthier. Everyone is choosing to eat a little less, make smarter food choices, and exercising more. Exercising is a great way to shed pounds and stay in shape, but only if you do it right. By “doing it right”, I mean you want to make sure you set yourself for success – not failure – from the word GO.
Before you get ready to feel the burn, makes sure you are dress appropriately. Dressing comfortably and dressing attractively in the best clothes for exercising will ensure that you will stick wit it because you are comfy and also you feel really attractive in them. Whether working out indoors on your elliptical machine or treadmill, or working out in the great outdoors, clothes are vital to making you feel your best.
When choosing the best clothes for exercise always look for attire that is breathable and snug fitting. Although, these features are the best guide, don’t be discount technology. Before you go shopping for your next set of exercise clothes, here are a few things you should consider.
· Breathable. The first feature that you should look for is clothing made from materials that breathe. These are fabrics both air and water vapor to flow through, preventing your body from overheating. One of the most common breathable fabrics is cotton.
My personal favorite is organic cotton and also organic cotton and bamboo blends. They make for the softest, most body-flattering fit and most natural colors. However, there are array of blends with polyester that are also breathable. So be sure to see what the materials your exercise clothes are created with, before you purchase.
· Snug Fitting. Typically when exercising, you need to be able to move around without obstruction. Exercise clothes should fit properly. Clothes that fit snugly will move with you. Instead of working against you like baggy clothes tend to do. This is especially true when doing yoga. I hate doing an intense yoga dvd when my clothes are flopping up around my ears when I’m trying to do the downward dog – you get the picture. Close-fitting but not too tight is a good rule of thumb.
On the other hand, clothes that fit tightly may irritate and cause chaffing. Depending on the exercises you are trying, you may also need to check to ensure that you are performing the maneuvers correctly. Clothes that hug your body will usually not block your view of the TV screen, exercise machines, or the body parts you are targeting.
· Technological Advances. We all think that name brand exercise clothes are a pricey luxury for only those that are “serious” about exercising. Yet big brands like, Nike, Adidas, and Reebok spend millions developing clothes for exercising and outdoor activities. Features such as Dri-Fit by Nike or Dry Play by Reebok take the simple concept of breathable high tech.
You gotta love the new dry wick material sin workout clothes. They wick away the moisture that builds up under the shirts and pants when you’re working out and really sweating it out on a hot day in the hot sun, keeping you cool and dry. No one wants to be a sweaty, dirty mess when they’re done working out.
Oh, the socks that have this dry wick technology are also awesome. You know how socks that get wet end up smelling – not so good, so dry wick socks are a real life saver for your shoes and your nose. You can even buy a sweat band made with this special technology that will help mop up the sweat from your forehead for you – how nice!
Although these are the most important features to look for, depending on how and the times that you choose to exercise, you should also consider exercise clothes with reflective stripes if you are someone who likes to jog or do outdoor activities in the evening or anywhere near dusk. Safety is always a concern, and working out shouldn’t be hazardous to your health.
People that enjoy working outside may also want to look for exercise clothes specially made SPF protective fabrics. Remember good exercise clothes should promote exercising and not inhibit or restrict it. So, your exercise outfit should make you feel good while you are getting in shape, because the better you feel the longer you will stay on track.
